Engaging Our Youngest Minds

http://k12online.ning.com/video/engaging-our-youngest-minds

The lady in the video is telling a story about a girl who was invested in changing the world. Her passion was saving animals and collecting change to keep them alive. The shocker of this video is that she is in preschool. The person mentions there is a lack of passion among youth. She talks about how schools are pushing students away from passion. She wants passion to truly thrive in our schools. She wants to keep the natural curiosity of the youth for as long as possible. She thinks it’s the most important to help conduct learning. The lady wants this little girl Hailey to publish her ‘books’ online and communicate with scientists. Technology isn’t what is engaging, it’s the passion that helps them engage with the learning. Technology is going to connect them to their future. This lady is giving Hailey the tools she needs in the future to push her passion as far as possible. The parents wrote a note about how learning never ends and they hope that this lady will keep helping Hailey like she has been so far. In the end to sum up what she has been saying is a clip of this adorable boy. He is playing Jason Mraz on a guitar and he looks to be about 4 and a half years old. Overall I think her message was that passion is what drives this world and we need to make sure our youth don’t forget it!

Teachers Webpage

This is a myfunteacher website that highlights miss powels classroom. I don't think she has a sponsor for this site but she seems to be connected to Beatty elementary school in Vegas. The reason she put this site together was to aid students and parents with the education process. She puts in many resources for parents that will help there students complete the class. I love the design of this web page because she makes it known that it gets constantly updated. Her theme on the homepage is valentines day which is right around the corner. The tabs are clearly and easily labeled for easy navigation. This is a personal page and there is no obvious adds posted on here making her motivation soley on her students. I don't think i would use it in my class but i could use it as inspiration for my own web page as an educator.

Teaching Sites

http://www.teachingideas.co.uk/
The website I chose is Teaching Ideas. The website seems independent from any large organization. This website seems to be created by Mark Warner who's name appears all over the site. I would assume his motivation is to help teachers with lesson plans. If a teacher is stuck on what to do for class, he/she can go on here and get ideas from people who have taught the subject before. This website was made as a took to make teachers lives a little easier. The website does look slightly outdated though its pretty easy to navigate. I only saw 2 adds on this page. This makes me think he made this website more for teachers then his own personal gain. This is valuable because I can talk to other teachers who have been in my shoes before and get their valued input.
